Cindy Masidonio

Cindy has been coaching the Waves since their inception in 1989.  The Waves have captured two national/world championships and have been in the top 5 National/World dance twirl team finalist since 1990.  Cindy has also coached solo students since 1971 and many of her students have won several State, Regional and National championships.
Cindy is a former national and state twirling champion.  She lives in Orange, California with her husband, Andy and two daughters, Kellie and Courtney and stepson, Shawn.  Her daughter, Kellie Trouten, is the current 2003 Junior Miss Majorette of America and Courtney is an avid dancer.  She would like to thank her family for all their patience, support and understanding and a special thanks to her mom, Annette Bethune, for all her unselfish support and help she gives to her daughters, team and herself.

Shari Taylor

Shari has been coaching many top Dance Twirl Teams, Corps and solo students for many years.  She’s been with the Waves since 1997.  She has a strong background in dance and she was a background dancer in the movie “Grease 2”.  She says much of her success in her teaching is from the love, help and patience she receives from her loving husband, Tony, and her daughters, Kailey and Tasha.
She wishes all “Wave Girls” good luck at AYOP.

Major Beverly Johnson

Beverly Johnson was an outstanding twirler herself and has been inducted into the Twirler’s Hall of Fame.  She lives in Huntington Beach with her husband, Roger.  She has coached many twirlers who’ve won State, Regional, National and World titles.
She is proud of all of her students, past and present.

A Note From NBTA’s Major Beverly Johnson:
It is my good fortune to share the directorship of the Waves with Cindy Masidonio and Shari Taylor along with assistants Nikki Prado and Melissa Sonntag.  We are extremely proud of the Waves.  They are all dedicated young women who study and strive to accomplish the techniques and skills required to be a member of our Dance Twirl Teams. Each July the Waves journey to Notre Dame University in South Bend, Indiana, to compete in the NBTA AYOP National and World Open Competition. (National Baton Twirling Association, Americas Youth On Parade).  Not only will they compete in the Dance Twirl Team National Championships, each of our members will also join thousands of other young men and women coming together from around the world to compete in many other events such as 1, 2 & 3 Baton Solos, Strut, Rhythmic Twirl, and Duet.
